As early as 9 a.m. the riders were already dropping in and chasing each other through the setup of the advanced line, which included two kickers and an industry cannon, during the warm-up session. While things were getting serious during the qualification rounds, the crowd were enjoying themselves at the chill area, where Blue Tomato provided them with cool drinks and tasty bbq. Read on to find out which riders made their way to the finals and were able to bag the cash prize and lots of cool goodies.
The top 3 spots on the podium at the freeski competition all went to Austrian riders. Besides being the overall winner of the day, Michi Tschallener also managed to bag the Blue Tomato Best Trick award. None of the other riders were able to beat his massive Left-Side Cork 9 Stale, for which he received a 100€ voucher for Blue Tomato. Johannes Rohrmoser and Johannes Rudigier followed Michi on 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. At the freeski ladies contest Lisi Gram grabbed the Plan P crown, while Selina Jäger and Tamara Schmid stood next to her on the podium. Nico Egger managed to come in first in the groms category, followed by Elias Wechner and Kilian Wolfram.
18-year-old Leon Vockensperger (GER) certainly was the hero of the day among the snowboarders. After two strong runs in the qualification round, he was able to grab the title in the finals. Head judge Andy Lehmann and his colleagues were clearly impressed by his Frontside 10 Tailgrab and also awarded him with the Blue Tomato Best Trick. Alois Lindmoser (AUT) also offered a strong performance and came in second, followed by Noah Vicktor (GER) from Bavaria. Klara Dinold (AUT) was able to win over the judges in the ladies competition, while Emma Lantos (AT) and Romy Van Vreden (NL) grabbed 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. First place in the groms category went to Moritz Breu (GER), who shared the podium with Stan Pauli (NL) and Bono Kraljkos (SI).
An amazing day like this obviously has to end in style. Everybody was invited to join the after shred session at Blue Tomato Shop Schladming for a couple of beers and hot punch. The atmosphere was relaxed and after raising the glasses to the winners and the contest in general it was time to carry on partying in Schladming’s nightlife.
