On February 11, around 30 girls from the Schladming-Dachstein region, Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands were gathering at the Superpark Planai for the Girls Shred Session. Their main focus was shredding the park to bits and improving their skills. They were supported by the two snowboard coaches and Blue Tomato team riders Lisa Veith und Ana Rumiha, as well as Regina Rathgeb, who served as the guide for the twin-tip ladies. Under their professional guidance, the girls were taking plenty of smooth runs through the park, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and the perfect bluebird weather. “Usually, there are quite few girls riding the park and those who do, are pretty advanced already. That’s why it’s very special to have so many girls at the park at once, especially those who just started getting into freestyle,” Rebecca Heinrich says. She certainly knows what she’s talking about - she’s shaper at the Superpark Planai and, therefore, was able to experience a totally exceptional day at “her” park.

For the collective lunch by Blue tomato, all the jibberinas and jolly jumpers were meeting up at the chill area, chatting about their highlights of the day so far. Christina Katefidis took part for the first time. “I just thought, I’d give it a shot and it definitely paid off. The park’s in great shape – there’s loads of cool obstacles, so everybody’s guaranteed to find their favorite. Plus, the coaches’ tips were really helpful,” Christina, who was really stoked on her progress, says. “Today I landed a backside 180 with grab for the first time!” While the girls were pulling off loads of new moves, you could hear the cameras humming in the background. It wasn’t only the QParks Media crew who was capturing the girls ripping the park, though. The park’s own video system also played a major part in producing a Freeski and Snowboard clip. Thanks to the SpotOn App the participants had the chance to have their best runs captured and to download their personal edit afterwards.
At the end of the session, each of the girls received a goodie bag, packed with various cool goodies, by Blue Tomato. Afterwards it was time for a little get together at the shop in Schladming. Lisa Veith’s closing words on the Girls Shred Session, “Girls tend to have different fears and they’ve got a different way in approaching new tricks. This is why girl coachings are so important! Here we get the chance to improve our skills alongside each other.”
