The day started slightly stormy and snowy, but soon turned into a nice bluebird day right when the session started at 10am. The perfectly shaped Superpark once again lived up to its superb name and showed why the park is known as a true shred paradise. The motivated girls started with a short and entertaining warm-up before they buckled up. During the first coaching lesson, the freestyle beginners gathered around the butter boxes and worked on their 50-50s. Meanwhile, the more advanced freestyle ladies showed what they got on various tubes and rails. The girls definitely represented the motto “Girls Own The Park” big time. One could immediately see that the Shredqueens took over Superpark Planai.

Thanks to the superb coaches, female progression was in the spotlight on this special day. Xenia Klackl, Nicola Reinthaler and Till Ewers proved to be patient trainers and sparked the participants’ freestyle flame with their helpful tips and tricks! “Girls just need other girls, especially when it’s their first time in the park. It just gives them so much safety”, Nicola says. And indeed, many shredqueens agreed: “You push each other, you are happy about joint achievements, but you also understand the fears which are circling through the head at times. Especially when you are in the inrun of a jump for the first time or when the rail is a bit higher.”

As there was so much action early in the day, no one wanted to miss out on the well-deserved lunch break. A day full of park laps does not only kick-start the stoke levels, but also makes the riders hungry. Of course, the lucky shred ducks got spoiled on this unique day! The Blue Tomato Team provided a tasty BBQ, chocolate and tea. After the delicious boost, the second coaching session was about to start. In the afternoon, the shred queens put in all the effort – and were eventually rewarded decently. During the course of the day, the girls stomped their first board slides and added one or the other spin to their trick set. “I’m so stoked that I actually stomped a 360 in front of my brother!” tells us one shred sister smiling from ear to ear.

After the coaching session, another – this time materialistic – reward was waiting for the participants. All riders could take home fine Goodies from Blue Tomato, Golden Ride, Oakley and Protect Our Winters. After that nice surprise, the only unresolved issue for many freestylers was: When the heck and where is the next Girls Shred Session? And where can you register? Right away, the ladies exchanged phone numbers and planned following shred trips. So, one thing is crystal clear: when the shred queens take off, nobody can stop them!
